I finally had some time to collect some before and after shots of my South Philly bathroom renovation. I know what you're thinking, why would I do away with my 3 foot wide baby blue bathroom? With the help of contractor extraordinaire, Dave Smith, and of course Apartment Therapy and Pinterest, I designed this bathroom! Since the house was built in 1920, I wanted the bathroom to be a modern take on Art Deco. Brass fixtures by Watermark for Rejuvenation, Schoolhouse Electric sconces, vintage clawfoot bathtub, custom cabinetry, Pottery Barn medicine cabinet, Ferm living toilet paper holder as hand towel holder and of course a Flora Poste dusty rose dishtowel.
Dave knocked down the wall on the left to extend the bathroom 3 feet. It may not sound like a lot but it made a huge difference, and allowed the small bedroom next door to still be useable. When Dave was removing the old blue tile, he found a treasure underneath, amazing fish wallpaper from the 50's! Unfortunately it was stuck directly to the plaster and difficult to remove or preserve in any way but we took tons of photgraphs and I was able to take off a few pieces and framed this one for the wall.
And here are some more process and before and after shots! I love how the black accents in the white hex tile came out!
